We’ve all heard of Mercury Retrograde, when everything seems to go wrong. But what is retrograde really about? This month we are focusing on looking back, reflecting and learning from the past. It’s not just Mercury that gets involved, here we delve into the depths of Retrograde Season. What happens and what we can learn from it.
What is Retrograde?
When a planet is in retrograde, it appears the planet is travelling backwards on its journey through the sky. But planets can’t really travel backwards during orbit. It appears this way because of the position it is in in relation to the Earth. Different planets go into retrograde at certain times of the year, creating what is known as the ‘Retrograde Season.’
What happens during Retrograde Season?
There are a few key dates to note during Retrograde Season, beginning from April 27th;
- Pluto Retrograde April 27th through to October 6th
- Saturn Retrograde May 23rd through to October 11th
- Mercury Retrograde May 30th through to June 23rd
- Jupiter Retrograde June 20th through to October 18th
- Neptune Retrograde June 25th to December 10th
With all these dates, you may notice there is a point where all the above planets are in retrograde at the same time. But this doesn’t mean we should write off 2021 just yet!
Retrograde gives us chance to take heed from the planets and follow in their footsteps. Turning our attention inwards, slowing down and looking back on our journey and what we can learn from it.
